In Midjourney, the /imagine
command is the main way you talk to the AI. It’s how you tell the system what kind of image you want to create. You type /imagine prompt:
followed by your description—like “a stormy beach at night, lightning in the sky, dramatic, cinematic lighting.” Hit enter, and the AI gets to work, generating four image options based on your words.
This command only works in Midjourney’s Discord server or a connected Discord channel. It triggers the image generation process and is followed by options to upscale or vary the images. Think of /imagine
as your gateway into the tool—every picture starts here.
You can also add modifiers after the prompt (like --ar 16:9
for wide aspect ratio, or --v 7
to use the latest engine version). But at its core, /imagine
is simple: you describe what you want, and Midjourney tries to show you exactly that.
